Need Wood 02:57
ready to call it off/ ready to call it here/ let it call it out/ only to leave it here/ ready to call it off/ ready to call it here/ what do you call this now?/ you've only to make it clear./ ready t call it off/ ready to call it here/ what's with the worried hand?/ if only you'd made it.../ now you've made up your mind/ it didn't always have to be./ ready to call it off/ ready to call it here/ use has all dried out/ so why is it raining here?/ ready to call it out ready to call it clear/ shielding our eyes with your hands/ if only we'd made it.../ now you've made up your mind/ it didn't always have to.../ ready to whore it out/ ready to call it here/ or get up and walk out/ only to make it clear./ ready for this now/ ready for this here/ foundations in the sands/ why did we leave it here?
2.
banister with no nail support/ stout hands, dirty finger nails/ limescale coffee cups/ and over-the-hill we go/ bane of my life, if you let them.../ days will follow, follow you home/ stained skin and an unshaven face/ hard working days in the sun/ slash the post, cut the cord/ sorry, son, i want out of that/ bane of my life, if you let them.../ days will follow, follow you home/ sat sleeping in a worn chair/ bit the legs of his best friends/ lived his life in clouds of dust/ never wanted for anything/ can that be my life/ if i let them in?/ days will follow, follow you home./ days shall follow/ days shall follow you home./ i know you said that it wouldn't be easy/ but i'm sat in front of my computer crying everyday/ i know it sounds stupid but.../ days are following me home/ days are following me home/ days are following me
3.
About Time 05:18
it's about time/ and i want you to know/ you should get your things and go/ it's about time/ and i want you to know we don't need graves to let go/ aren't you tired of it all?/ it makes sense to forget/ than live more days in regret/ it's about time/ and i need you to know./ so make it our last one/ we're falling over ourselves now/ trying to change our lives/ or get back to a past one/ but given half a chance/ we'll make the same mistake/ each and every time./ i remember your face/ lit with porch light/ as i took my leave into the night/ too much time had passed/ i came back to our room/ nothing had moved/ so before you could see me/ i slipped away/ oh we looked… so old./ so make it our last one/ we're falling over ourselves now/ trying to change our lives/ or get back to a past one/ but given half a chance/ we'll make the same mistakes/ each and every time/ each and every time
4.
Waste Of Air 03:26
i found you, in the scrawl/ a poem of nothing/ there's weakness in their bones/ the peeling paper shows our fate/ i remember the evening fire/ the laughing flames of open minds/ we didn't have to sense a feeling of pretence/ and say that i'd died/ that's how i should feel? so what? so what?/ that's how i should feel?/ so what? so what?/ and it's all a waste of air./ you tremble with a fear/ that she would disappear/ waking up to bleed/ a relative disease away/ the next stop that you choose to make/ could be too much for her to take/ you've stumbled through her lines/ but she will call the time/ she bleeds what she needs/ that's how i should feel?/ so what? so what?/ that's how i should feel?/ so what? so what?/ and it's all a waste of air./
5.
i lived here once/ that's all he would say/ i lived here once/ then pushed the pain away/ she stood here once/ in all her blood and bloom/ she stood here once/ a softly spoken woman./ through the dry, broken vines to the door/ withers of grass sill cross the floor/ where the sky wears thin our thrush dim/ still stand, still remembers you carrying her in./ they kissed here once/ held hands and talked alone/ they kissed here once/ and found this house their home/ they lived here once/ and love was all they knew/ they lived here once/ until time bid her adieu./ winds lift the leaves to the porch/ past the veins of each step beaten skin/ the twists in the door sink into the pores/ still sung every word that built these walls./ i lived here once/ that's all he would say/ i lived here once/ then pushed the pain away/ she stood here once in all her blood and bloom/ she stood here once a softly spoken woman./ they lived here once/ and love was all they knew/ they lived here once/ until time bid her adieu./ i lived here once/ that's all he would say/ i lived here once/ then pushed the hurt away./ now its gone/ now its gone
6.
Fortunate 03:36
Fortunate oh hope, long gone/ the dead hammered wood/ on the hillside/ now there'w cracks in the stone/ whispers on the tide./ and how was i supposed to know/ when i couldn't breath?/ and how was i supposed to know when i couldn't dream?/ old home, stood strong/ men with artless smiles/ cut the ribbons, sealed the divide/ led us to willingly/ held our heads under the tide./ and how was i supposed to know when i couldn't breath?/ and how was i supposed to know when i couldn't dream?/ the river is calling/ the river is calling/ the river is calling you inside/ the river is calling/ the river is calling/ the river is calling you inside
7.
when she took off their shoes did she say goodbye?/ as they circled the car did they see the funny side?/ it never sank in/ she said when she pulled up at red lights he got in/ people prayed as she sobbed for their safe return/ though she’d watched the car lights sink and turn/ she must have thought her steps would wipe clean/ but the lights on monarch mills had stayed green/ drawings of a life on scraps of paper/ pictures that they’ll never be in/ in the back they’re strapped-in upside down/ a hand against the window, they were found/ “we’re too different, I don’t want kids”/ on bed of john d. long lake is where they hid/ plans for a life on scraps of paper/ pictures that should never be seen/ lives, spilling into other lives/ clouds pushing into greyer skies/ white, floating in forgotten strands/ peace where sleep is stronger than wine/ and from prison letters were wrote/ her feelings outshone by others grief/ but in the dark they drowned on their own/ and the pictures they should’ve drawn stay under stone
8.
i'm sorry but you were breaking hearts before me/ i've got so much to learn and my mistakes i'm not trying to hide/ make up your mind 'cause as long as there is love we'll be fine/ there's just so much to know i don't want us getting left behind./ all those mornings./ i'm sorry but you were breaking hearts long before me/ please make me understand why i'm the same as all the other guys/ i'll stay home tonight, i'll close my eyes so we don't have to fight/ poor girl, please work it out, none of the others were ever so uptight./ all those mornings./ the lonely will say 'the water is always rising/ the rivers will weep and from him there's no disguising/ the heart must open/ until disappointment fills it'/ just leave me to sleep/ i'm too weak to fight./ i'm sorry but you were breaking hearts before me/ you leave cracks in my voice, burn it all not to be left behind/ all those mornings
9.
Big Night 03:02
these steps are showing legs/ a thought we just couldn’t hold/ hadn’t rained in 50 days but/ piece by piece is what we were told/ and “I’ll fix him”, yeah,/ that’s what she said/ thoughtless, leaderless & dumb/ broken & dumb/ broken and/ what was it your mother said?/ old dogs, old postmen/ we’re tired of licking stamps with/ nowhere to send them/ she hitched up her skirt/ and climbed into bed/ strung up, tapped out, I’m done/ broken & dumb/ broken and dumb
10.
Too Slippy 04:11
awake from stupor/ my words lead on/ take my hand don't pretend to sleep, he's gone/ machault needn't worry/ those children are fine/ their fathers slur on their mother's time./ 'i can't find my lovely, the streets shrink and narrow, twist and stray/ i'm so tired and lonely and my final hope has had its day.'/ awake from your stupor/ my words lead on/ take my hand/ don't pretend to sleep/ he's gone./ let's watch the couples swing and court from notre dame/ let him kneel, raise his glass and his heart can burn her calm./ 'i can't find my lovely, the streets, shrink and narrow, twist and stray/ i'm so tired and lonely and my final hope has had its day.'/ awake from your stupor/ my words lead on/ take my hand don't pretend to sleep, it's done/ awake, it's done
11.
we need to work it out/ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out./ anya, anya listen to me/ anya, anya listen to me/ anya, anya listen to me/ anya, anya listen to me./ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out./ i can see your arms draped by your side and i know you look through me/ finally stopped spoke half a word, you're clutching your chest and slurring/ your heels dug deep in the ground/ teeth shield our last reprieve/ i'll squeeze your hand/ i'll shake you down/ waves hit, are you breathing slow or at all?/ anya, anya listen to me/ anya, anya listen to me./ we need to work it out/ we need to work it out
12.
and you look at me as if i could forgive you/ paths were burnt/ long ago on bridges you chose to cross/ i know i'll get the blame/ when the crash is on time/ well i don't mind/ i hear the black around her eyes distorting what she sees and what she says is meant for other ears and as she talks i feel like i've sat through this all a thousand times so why does this feel like a mistake?/ you said to me/ that if you wanted this could be/ your last drink tonight/ so make up your mind/ i don't want to have to watch you/ make a fool of yourself/ you'll never learn/ you said to me/ that if we wanted this could be/ the last day of our lives/ so why don't you have the time/ to love/ as you should or just feel this can't be right

about

July 2014 saw the release of the debut album from My Grey Horse -
"I still don't understand"

"The album primarily plays with the concept of ‘do you ever really change as a person?’ as it tries to allay some of the lessons these cyclical situations keep on failing to teach us.

But we aimed to strangle some other themes with the same necktie too… That whole feel of optimism coming from desperation, that’s what we hope to have captured.” -Oobah Butler.

"It’s pretty much all live, and all on tape: so it sounds like you’re there with us or that was the plan." -Peter Butler.

about

My Grey Horse Stratford Upon Avon, UK

My Grey Horse was formed of 5 friends who spent 5 years making music that anchored their existence.

We're really proud of these records but now it makes sense to move on.

Thanks to anybody who listened to our stuff, bought our records, came to shows or supported us in anyway over the years: we couldn't be more grateful. You've been incredible.

Love from,
Pete, John, Oobah, Joe and Tom.
